Communication Research and Global Health Promotion

Gary Kreps, , Ph.D., FAAHB, Distinguished Professor, Department of Communication, Director of the Center for Health & Risk Communication, George Mason University (USA)

Communication research has the potential to help prevent health risks, guide health promotion efforts, and improve health outcomes by providing access to relevant health information.
Health information is the most important resource needed for guiding health decision making and it is often in short supply.

The global Health Information National Trends Survey (HINTS) research program is designed to identify critical health information gaps and needs facing different populations around the world, as well as to guide evidence-based strategies for disseminating health information to these at-risk populations.
This research program holds great promise for promoting global health.

Who is in the driver's seat?

Halim Abou Seif, Strategic Communications Consultant & Trainer, RADA Research & PR Co. (Egypt)

Presentation's key idea:

Since the initial wave of the revolution in the use of the internet over mobiles, our public audiences have learned how to choose what they want to hear or see. They are in the driver's seat today!

Now we have no other option but:
• Innovative campaigns
• Clustering stakeholders according to behaviour and trends
• Stay up to date and most of all be Real & Transparent

So, the main conclusion is: either we fight the change and continue defending our values, or just go with the flow and move faster to make PR stronger than ever!
