Michel Tereshchenko

Mayor of the town of Hlukhiv, entrepreneur, descendant of the Tereshchenko family - Ukrainian industrialists and philanthropists, author of "The first oligarch. Mykhailo Ivanovych Tereshchenko, 1886-1956" (Ukraine)

In 2015, he received Ukrainian citizenship and was elected Mayor of Hlukhiv.

Born in Paris, Michel graduated from the ESSEC business school in France. In the period 1981-1990, he lived in the United States and served as an officer in the US Navy submarine fleet. In 1994, he visited Ukraine for the first time, as a tourist, and since 2003 he lives in Kyiv and Hlukhiv.

He is the founder of the NGO "Center of active Hlukhiv citizens" and also - the Tereshchenko Heritage Foundation, whose task is to support the ongoing activities referring to the Kiyv and Hlukhiv buildings constructed over 100 years ago by the Tereshchenko family.

He has been actively engaged in business since the 90s - he has managed businesses in France and Ukraine, also acting as an advisor based in Ukraine for some of the large French agricultural companies.

Michel Tereshchenko revives flax cultivation in Ukraine and plans to further develop his business in Hlukhiv where his ancestors used to live for centuries. He strongly supports the city.
